Dreamverse is the the third project launching from our launchpad, Moonshot - and setting our biases aside, the team behind this Metaverse contributor is made up of AI experts and passionate designers who are looking to enable both the Solana community and NFT space at large. The 6,180 unique NFTs crafted by these artists and AI Nerds drops on Sunday, December 12th at 19:00 UTC - be a part of the Dreamverse before the dream becomes reality. Solanalysis spoke to Ares at the Dreamverse team to understand how the project came to and where they hope to take the community next.
How did the project start?
Our team is actually made up of old time friends, with the core group being a bunch of AI Nerds originally interested in deep fakes, which kicked-off our interest in the AI space as a whole. The conversations around AI that we had were always ambitious (we literally could not stop talking about it) but never a full time consideration. But one day the dialogue went to another level with one of our designer friends getting involved - he noted that the work we were doing “wasn’t art” and wanted to explore the capabilities of the AI that we were working on. The tools that we were building enabled the designer friends that we had to do things they never could do before like: turn text comments in to visuals, submit ratios and hand drawings to generate digital art and even capture the distinct styles of individual artists. The algorithms that we were creating took these artists to a whole other level that they previously thought was impossible. These tools were used to create the first drafts of the Dreamverse.
Why “Dreamverse”?
We started thinking about what we were actually going to build and considered the blockers in front of us. We knew that this wouldn’t be an easy process as AI was costly in both time and money but also were very passionate about building this 3D virtual world as our end game. What we want to do was limited by the current technology as it’s really hard to create actual 3D worlds (GAN tools aren’t able to do this as it only enables 2D with depth). As corny as this may be, we knew that what we had in mind required not only ample resources but the ability to dream big - that’s what we all are, dreamers in this space looking to make our dreams come true through AI technology in the Metaverse. Hence we wanted to create the Dreamverse.
What are you focusing on in the near term?
Our mint with Solanalysis is the first step for our grand vision - this is going to be a very resource heavy project given what we’re building as each of the 6,180 NFTs will be its own space and a have a corresponding 3D space in the Dreamverse. We’re looking to collaborate with other NFT and AI projects like Infinity Labs to build together and have them operate in our virtual spaces. We believe that we’re in the “space business” which is a great fit for the Solana world, where the other projects (who we view as “object projects”) can build whatever they want in the spaces that we’re creating.
We’re thinking about going down one of two paths - either to build small games and mini projects within the Dreamverse and accompany them with in-world economics, tokens, and items so people can jump in and start playing OR to just have other projects build on top of our platform. This is why we think figuring out collaborations early on is essential to deciding on where to exactly take our roadmap. It’s really important for people to note that we’re not going to build rules for the Dreamverse but define algorithms that enhances the world as time goes by. User behavior will shape the universe - it won’t be buying land that’s a replica of the real world, but a unique world in itself that will change and be free of the rules of the physical world.
What’s your future outlook for Solana and the broader NFT space?
I think there will be a lot of potential cross-chain, especially between Solana and Ethereum. This is going to bring a lot of value to Solana as many of the ETH projects are very expensive and Solana will open doors for affordability. Gas prices are a huge deal breaker for many people - ETH is great at tackling issues like this (hence ETH 2.0 coming out) but it also presents Solana with a chance for massive growth. Bridging is already happening for coins and it’ll be inevitable for NFTs as they use the same underlying technology - this is great for projects like Dreamverse because this means even ETH NFTs can come work with Solana projects and space environments.
General population NFT adoption will be highly dependent on utility - realistically, the only current accepted utility is within gaming. NFT as an art isn’t as commonly accepted, but that’s OK. I think that any form of ownership that is useful in the current world will eventually have some reflection in the digital world (think inventions or patents) and the technology supporting this infrastructure will be blockchain. At the end of the day, I have no doubt that NFTs will be used by everyone daily. Ironically, I actually think the name “NFTs” will go away, it’s always so hard to explain what a “non-fungible token” is. It’ll be similar to how people just refer to DNS as the “Internet.” One additional thing that I envision this space will enable is the simplification and ease of corporatization - DAO’s will be revolutionary in how companies come together (we can all agree IPO’s are a pain in the ass!)
